NGC 1645 is a lenticular galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type S0 / a / P in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 215 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 135,000 light-years across.
The galaxies NGC 1643 , NGC 1656 , NGC 1659 , NGC 1677 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on October 31, 1864 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
