NGC 1648 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 207 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter. In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1636 and NGC 1646 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on December 29, 1885 .
