NGC 1667 = NGC 1689 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 199 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter.
Together with NGC 1645 , NGC 1659 , IC 387 , IC 2101 , IC 2097 , PGC 15779 , PGC 16061 and PGC 16065 , it forms the NGC 1667 group .
The Type Ia supernova SN 1986N was observed here.
The object was discovered on December 13, 1884 by Édouard Stephan at the Observatoire de Marseille .
