NGC 1654 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sa in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is estimated to be 200 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light-years across .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1653 , NGC 1657 , NGC 1661 .
The Type I supernova SN 1962P was observed here.
The object was discovered by Édouard Stephan on December 21, 1881 .
