NGC 1618 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 215 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 155,000 ly. a. the galaxies NGC 1622 and NGC 1625 .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on February 1, 1786 .
