Alex Diamond

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alex Diamond is the name of an art project that was initiated in 2004 by the Hamburg artist Jörg Heikhaus . Jörg Heikhaus is also the founder of the heliumcowboy gallery (2002 – today) in Hamburg . Until 2010, this project was carried out without a direct connection to the artist himself, which means that it was not known who was behind the pseudonym. The aim of this secrecy was to carry out various self-presentations and to investigate the extent to which an artist can establish himself without an explicit identity. In early 2010, however, the artist gave up anonymity and uses Alex Diamond as a pseudonym . Jörg Heikhaus has also been running the art podcast "heliumTALK" (German & English) since 2017.

Alex Diamond's work focuses primarily on working with wood. His works are characterized by dynamic figures and strict and reduced coloring, both of which can often be found in the artist's woodcuts, installations, furniture and wood prints. The focus of his artistic activity is the woodcut , which he does not see as a pure printing instrument, but as a work in itself.
