Alex Ebert , even Alexander Ebert (* 12. May 1978 in Los Angeles , California as Alexander Michael Tahquitz Ebert ) is an American musician , singer and composer who, through his award-winning film score for the feature film All Is Lost became internationally known.

life and career

Ebert was born in Los Angeles in 1978 to Michael Ebert, a psychotherapist, and Lisa Richards, an actress. Alex Ebert has worked in the music business in various functions since the early 2000s, including as a singer and musician in the band Ima Robot , where he was also a founding member, and in the band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros .

In 2013, director JC Chandor commissioned him to write the score for his film All Is Lost , a drama starring Robert Redford . At the Golden Globe Awards 2014 , Ebert won the award in the category of best film music . In 2009 he composed his first film music for the filmmaker Tony Zierra for his documentary My Big Break . In 2014 there was another collaboration with director JC Chandor with A Most Violent Year .

His grandfather was the theater director Carl Ebert , his uncle Peter Ebert was also the theater director.
