Alex Gimeno

Alex Gimeno (* in Brooklyn , New York) is an American musician and disc jockey .

Life

Childhood and youth

During his childhood the family moved to Miami Beach, Florida. His father played in the Spanish flamenco group Los Chavales de España as a musician. Gimeno began collecting records as a teenager, and in 2005 he is said to have had 20,000 of them.

Career

Gimeno began his music career as a drummer. He returned to Brooklyn in the 1990s. After extensive activities as a disc jockey , he sent a tape of his work to the label ESL Music, Washington DC, which immediately showed interest. On this label, Gimeno has released a number of albums with mixes of an eclectic range of bands, from classic pieces like the Beatles to techno .

His first music album, which was released in 1999, is entitled "The Now Sound of Ursula 1000". Gimeno also runs his project on the Internet under the name Ursula 1000 . The name Ursula is said to remind of the Swiss actress Ursula Andress , who was featured in the first James Bond film Dr. No the female lead played by Honey Ryder.

Gimeno currently performs as a disc jockey in London , San Francisco and Seoul and other cities. He's in New York at least once a month. On 25/26 In February 2012 he was a guest in the legendary Bremen music club Lila Eule .
