Alex Oakley
Alex Oakley (actually Alexander Harold Oakley; born April 26, 1926 in St. John's , Newfoundland and Labrador ; † October 24, 2010 in Newfoundland and Labrador) was a Canadian walker .
At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , he was disqualified in the 20 km walk .
In 1960 he was ninth in the 20 km and sixth in 50 km at the Olympic Games in Rome .
In 1963 he won the Pan American Games in São Paulo over 20 km. In the following year he did not reach the goal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 over 20 km and took 14th place over 50 km.
At the British (Empire and) Commonwealth Games, he was fifth in the 20 mile walk in Kingston in 1966 and ninth in Edinburgh in 1970 .
In 1972 he came in 21st place at the Olympic Games in Munich over 50 km and in 1976 at the Olympic Games in Montreal over 20 km in 35th place.
