Alex Schaufelbühl

Alex Schaufelbühl is a Swiss sculptor . He creates sculptures out of wood, stone and bronze. Many of his works of art can be found in public spaces .

Life

The «Rabenkreisel» in Wettingen

Alex Schaufelbühl grew up in Bremgarten in Aargau and originally trained as a bricklayer . From 1989 to 1995 he did an apprenticeship as a sculptor with evening classes at the Zurich School of Applied Arts . From 1993 to 1995 he was a sculptor on the Stör .

He has been working as a freelance sculptor since 1995. In 1998 he opened his first studio in the former slaughterhouse in Baden in Wettingen . A year later he moved it to the former nursery in Gnadenthal in Niederwil .

Schaufelbühl's works of art are in the public ruum, such as the ravens on the Wettinger “Rabenkreisel”. The Freiämter Sagenweg was also created through his initiative .

Alex Schaufelbühl lives with his family in Wettingen.
