The Alexander Nevsky Church in Yalta

The Alexander Nevsky Church in the Ukrainian spa town of Yalta was built on a slope by the architect Nikolai Krasnow (1864–1939), who later also built the Livadija Palace , and Platon Terebenjew and is one of the most important churches in the region. Construction began in 1891, ten years after the assassination attempt on Tsar Alexander II and in memory of him, since Nevsky was considered Alexander's patron; construction was completed in 1902. The consecration of the church, at which the then Tsar couple Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna was present, followed on December 5th of the same year.

Like other Alexander Nevsky churches , it was named after the Russian national saint, Alexander Yaroslavich Nevsky . The Russian-style church is richly decorated and has a white facade and golden onion domes . Various works of art adorn the church, for example there is a wall niche with a portrait of Alexander Nevsky on the outside and a mosaic of Nevsky on the inside.
