The Alexander was a British convict transport of the First Fleet with a displacement of 452 tons. The ship was in 1783 as Bark with Quarterdeck in Kingston upon Hull built. She was the largest transport ship in the First Fleet.

Even before she left England, the fever broke out on board and 16 men died. On May 13, 1787, the ship left Portsmouth with 195 male convicts on board. Of these, 15 died on the trip. This was the highest number of victims in the First Fleet, but far below the values of the infamous Second Fleet . She reached Port Jackson , Sydney on January 26, 1788.

On July 14th of the following year it ran out again with the Friendship . After the crew of both ships was so badly affected by scurvy that only enough able-bodied men were available for one ship, the crew of the Friendship , which was sunk, was taken over.

The Alexander reached England on June 3, 1789. Their captain was Duncan Sinclair, and the ship's doctor was William Balmain.
