Alexander Abraham (* 14. July 1981 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former boxer in the light middleweight Armenian origin. His older brother is Arthur Abraham .

amateur

Alexander Abraham boxed as an amateur for the boxing department of 1. FC Nürnberg and during this time won several regional championship titles in the light welter and welterweight division. His greatest success was the International German Junior Light Welterweight Championship in 1997.

professional

In 2003, he and his brother were signed by Wilfried Sauerland . He won his first professional fight on November 22, 2003 against the Czech Petr Rykala by knockout in the second round. Against the Senegalese Sylvain Gomis he managed only one draw in April 2005. In October 2008 he won the vacant EBU-EE light middleweight title against the Ukrainian Roman Dzuman .

End of career

In February 2010, at the age of only 28, Abraham surprisingly announced his retirement from boxing. He justified this with the appearance of inexplicable dizziness. Although intensive investigations in advance did not produce any negative results, the stable of professional boxing promoter Wilfried Sauerland agreed to the boxer's request to terminate his contract.
