Alexander Farkas

Alexander Farkas is an American music teacher and pianist.

Farkas was a piano student of Nadia Reisenberg and worked as a pianist with Jennie Tourel and Pierre Bernac . He received a Masters degree from the Manhattan School of Music and studied with Brooks Smith , John Wustmann and Paul Ulanowsky . With Shoshana Kaminitz in London he studied in 1998 the Alexander Technique, named after the actor Frederick Matthias Alexander . He also had lessons from Patrick Macdonald , Margaret Goldie , Marjorie Barlow and Elisabeth Walker .

He has taught at Yale School of Music , Hartt School , University of Hartford and Vassar College, and has given masterclasses and workshops at the Royal College of Music , the Royal Academy of Music , Trinity College of Music in London, and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, at the music academies of Basel and Lucerne and at the Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya in Barcelona. He published articles on the Alexander Technique in the London Alexander Journal and translated music theory writings by Lajos Bárdos . Since 2000 he has taught at the Conductors Institute of Bard College , since 2005 at the Bard Conservatory of Music .
