Politically, he was associated with Francis Burdett . In the 1790s he was President of the London Corresponding Society and later a supporter of the United Irishmen (see Society of United Irishmen , Irish Rebellion of 1798 ) and the Greek Revolution.

With several workshops, Galloway was one of the leading London craftsmen of his time. Joseph Clement , who he hired in 1813 , realized that Galloway was missing out on many opportunities. He rarely monitored his workshops, and the collapse of his cast iron workshop roof cost several workers their lives.

In the mid-1820s, Galloway became one of London's largest employers. In 1826 he was commissioned to deliver six steam engines for warships that were supposed to support the Greeks in their revolution (1821–1829). However, these were not finished in time. Henry Deacon was his apprentice from 1836 to 1839 .

His son, John Alexander Galloway (* around 1804; † June 16, 1850) worked in the company and went to Egypt in 1845 on behalf of Muhammad Ali Pasha , where he was to design a railway line through the desert from Cairo to Suez.
