Alexander Heising

Alexander Heising (born September 27, 1967 in Mainz ) is a German provincial Roman archaeologist .

Growing up in Mainz, he became interested in archeology at an early age and after graduating from high school he studied Provincial Roman Archeology, Early Historical Archeology and Ancient History at the Universities of Munich and Freiburg University , where he received his doctorate in 1999 with Hans Ulrich Nuber with a thesis on the Roman pottery of Mainz.

From 2000 to 2008, Heising worked as assistant to Hans-Markus von Kaenel in the Department of Archeology and History of the Roman Provinces and Ancillary Studies in Classical Studies at the University of Frankfurt am Main and has been Professor of Provincial Roman Archeology at the University of Freiburg since April 2009 Hans Ulrich Nuber.
