Alexander Kaschte (born March 1, 1978 in Wetzlar ) is a German musician , songwriter , writer and founder of the groups Samsas Traum , Weena Morloch and Miime.

Artistic career

Kaschte achieved fame mainly with the band Samsas Traum , which he founded in 1996.

Kaschte wrote and set the audio book 20 Steps Freedom , which allegorically addresses the problems of factory farming and killing; he tells the story of a group of people who are kept in cages (and ultimately killed). In the course of the story, the characters discuss, among other things, whether humans have more dignity than animals. The audio book, split into four parts, can be found on the bonus CDs of the newly released first four Samsas dream albums.

In 2013 his short story Please don't fieken appeared in the anthology Ill Stories , as well as the children's book Asen'ka and the words of the wolves: A fairy tale for children and those who want to become one . For the latter, his wife Anastasia Kaschte made the illustrations. The Book of the Dead Children was published in 2013.

controversy

Both the person Alexander Kaschte and his musical projects are repeatedly discussed controversially. In 2008 Kaschte was criticized for supporting inhuman and National Socialist ideologies because of the lyrics to The Age of Trees , in which he portrayed the genocide of all peoples and the extermination of humanity as a whole . The provocative design of a logo with the words Stop Humanity , which, according to Kaschte , was supposed to be a parody of the Stop the Madness campaign from the 1980s, fueled the debate. Kaschte then published a statement in which he distanced himself from right-wing extremist ideas.

In connection with the rampage in Emsdetten , Kaschte was again criticized. The perpetrator Sebastian B. had quoted the line of text "Whoever crosses my path again, has ten bullets in the face" from the song Ball in the face (9mm) on his self-portrayals on the Internet . The project received further attention in this regard when Kaschte announced in 2008 that he would like to release an album called Amok , which would deal with the rampage in Emsdetten. The label refused to release the album because it feared a boycott of sales. The release of the album was postponed several times, it finally appeared on July 1, 2011 at the same time as the ninth Samsas dream studio album Instructions for Being Dead on the Trisol label .

Family and personal life

Since the founding of Samsa's dream, some of Kasche's female companions have been involved in his musical work. Simone Stahl was briefly involved as a singer in Samsa's dream, but left the band after the release of the debut album Die Liebe Gottes . The model on the original cover of this album was Lydia Budnick, who was later to be heard as a guest singer on the album Utopia . Anita Hauser was responsible for the band's merchandising sales during the a.Ura tour. Lisa Hofer moderated an interview that was included in the limited edition of Wenn Schwarzer Regen and also contributed the lyrics to the album for "The Zero Hour". Kaschte is now married to the Russian illustrator and graduate of the Moscow Straganovka Art Academy Anastasia Kaschte (née Ilyna). The two have two daughters. In 2012 he dedicated the album Asen'ka - A fairy tale for children and those who want to become one to them , the lyrics are dedicated to his daughter, while the music was written for his wife. Between instructions on being dead and poetry: Friedrich's story , the visual concept of Samsa's dream was designed exclusively by Anastasia Kaschte, and the illustration of the books The Book of the Dead Children , Asen'ka and the Words of the Wolves and Mary Moon Face were cooperation projects of the Kaschtees. Kaschte lives with his family in Marburg an der Lahn .

Kaschte was a vegan from 2004 to 2011 . In a fan interview in 2018, however, he stated that he had "already had severe health problems after three years [...] and that he" suddenly said goodbye to veganism "with his first trips to Russia. In retrospect, he would “seriously advise everyone against this diet and never again propagate the points of view” he advocated at the time. He was also committed to the animal rights organization PETA .
