Aleksandr Vitberg ( Russian Александр Лаврентьевич Витберг ., Scientific transliteration Aleksandr Lavrent'evič Vitberg ; born January 15, jul. / 26. January  1787 greg. In Saint Petersburg , † January 12 jul. / 24. January  1855 greg. Ibid) was a Russian neoclassical architect and painter of Swedish descent. He won the competition to design the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow . Witberg was friends with Alexander Herzen during the exile in Vyatka .
