Alexander Prestel

Alexander Prestel (born January 17, 1941 in Berchtesgaden ) is a German mathematician.

Prestel received his doctorate in 1966 under Karl-Bernhard Gundlach at the University of Münster (The elliptical fixed points of Hilbert's module groups). He completed his habilitation in 1972 at the University of Bonn , where he became scientific advisor and professor in 1973. From 1975 he was a full professor at the University of Konstanz .

He deals with Galois and valuation theory, model theory and real algebra and geometry.

Jochen Koenigsmann is one of his doctoral students .
