Erico Ferrari

Érico Ferrari (born March 20, 1928 in Nova Palma , Rio Grande do Sul , Brazil , † April 29, 1973 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Santa Maria .

Life

Érico Ferrari received on 7 October 1951, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 29, 1971, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Bishop of Santa Maria . The Archbishop of Porto Alegre , Cardinal Alfredo Vicente Scherer , donated him episcopal ordination on June 26th of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops Antônio do Carmo Cheuiche OCD and Edmundo Luís Kunz from Porto Alegre. The inauguration in the diocese of Santa Maria took place the following day. His motto was Serviamus cum laetitia ( serve with joy ).

Érico Ferrari died exactly two years after his appointment as bishop while driving to his birthplace in a car accident. His grave is in the crypt of the Nossa Senhora Medianeira sanctuary , which he was involved in founding since 1970.
