Alexander Pretschner

Walter Alexander Pretschner (* 1975 ) is a German computer scientist and university professor. He is Professor of Software & Systems Engineering at the Technical University of Munich and Founding Director of the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation and Scientific Director of fortiss, the research institute of the Free State of Bavaria for software-intensive systems and services.

life and work

Pretschner studied computer science at RWTH Aachen University and the University of Kansas . He did his doctorate in 2003 at the Technical University of Munich under Manfred Broy with the dissertation: For model-based, functional testing of reactive systems. He then carried out research at the ETH Zurich before becoming a group leader at the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering as well as a professor at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and then a professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology . In 2012 he was appointed professor for software & systems engineering at the Technical University of Munich.
