Alexander Ross (poet)
Alexander Ross (born April 13, 1699 in Aberdeenshire , † May 20, 1784 in Lochlee ) was a Scottish poet.
Life
He was taught at Marischal College , Aberdeen and became a teacher for the children of Sir William Forbes of Craigievar . In 1732 he became the principal of Lochlee , Angus , where he lived the rest of his life.
In 1768, on the advice of James Beattie , he published The Fortunate Shepherdess . He died in Lochlee and was buried on May 26, 1784.
