Alexander Schinas
Alexander Schinas ( Greek Ἀλέξανδρος Σχινάς ; * around 1870 in Serres , Greece; † May 6, 1913 in Thessaloniki ) murdered the Greek King George I in Thessaloniki on March 18, 1913 .
Schinas was a Greek Macedonian and anarchist .
Shinas killed King George I near the White Tower in Thessaloniki with a shot in the heart. He was immediately arrested. After the trial, he was declared insane . In prison he was tortured by the Greek officials and eventually died after jumping out of the window of the gendarmerie.
Since Schinas' statements were not very productive, many questions in connection with his act remained unanswered. This led to various theories according to which he was supposed to have been a Bulgarian , Reich German or Ottoman agent.
