The Alexander Scott's Hospital is a nursing home in the Scottish town of Huntly in the Council area Aberdeenshire . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

Alexander Scott of Craibstone House donated the facility to care for old men and women. The building was constructed in 1853 to a design by the Scottish architect William Smith . Alexander Scott's Hospital was also expanded by Smith in 1860 and 1868. The building got its current appearance in 1901 when the various buildings were combined into one. A. Marshall Mackenzie is responsible for this design . The nursing home has 40 single rooms for people over 65 years of age.

Alexander Scott's Hospital is on the eastern edge of Huntlys on Bogie . The building is lavishly designed in the historicizing Scottish Baronial style . Its masonry consists of hewn granite blocks with offset natural stone details and is partially plastered with Harl . The porte-cochère , which ends in a three-story tower, is striking . Two-story wings emerge.
