Huntly , formerly Milton of Strathbogie or short Strathbogie , ( Gaelic : Hunndaidh ) is a Scottish town in Aberdeenshire . In 2011 there were 4768 inhabitants.
Sights include the ruins of Huntly Castle , a castle that was given to Sir Adam Gordon of Huntly in the 14th century . The writer George MacDonald was born in Huntly in 1824 . Some of his novels, notably Robert Falconer and Alec Forbes of Howglen, give a good glimpse into Huntly's life in the first half of the 19th century.
