Aberdeenshire West is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 2011 as one of ten constituencies in the electoral region of North East Scotland , which was redesigned and expanded from nine to ten constituencies as part of the constituencies' revision in 2011. Here, the constituency of Aberdeenshire West was formed from areas of the former constituencies of Gordon and West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine . It includes western areas of the Council Area Aberdeenshire with the towns of Ballater , Banchory and Huntly . The constituency sends a representative.
The constituency covers an area of 3526.6 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 73,253 people lived within its borders.
