It was introduced in 2011 as one of ten constituencies in the electoral region of North East Scotland , which was redesigned and expanded to ten constituencies as part of the constituency revision in 2011. Here, the constituency of Aberdeen South and North Kincardine was formed from areas of the former constituencies Aberdeen South and West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine .
