The Cookstown Hockey Club is a hockey club from Cookstown , County Tyrone , Northern Ireland . The club, founded in 1951, is a member of the Irish Hockey Association via the regional Ulster Hockey Union . The first men rose in 1967 to the second division and 1975 in the first division. Cookstown has been top notch ever since, playing in the Premier League of the Ulster Senior League. In 2011, the team won the Irish National Cup for the second time. At the European level, Cookstown took part in the second-rate Euro Hockey Club Champions Trophy as a defeated cup finalist in 1981 , as cup winners Belfast YMCA was not ready to play on a Sunday. By winning the tournament in Rome, Team Ireland secured a place in the first-class Euro Hockey Club Champions Cup in 1982 . In 1988, 7th place at the Euro Hockey Club Champions Cup meant Ireland's relegation from the top class. In 2011/2012 the team took part in the Euro Hockey League for the first time and met Amsterdam's H&BC (1:10) and Reading HC (0: 5) from England, so they were eliminated after the preliminary round. In addition to the men's section, there are five junior teams and two women's teams. The first women also play in the top division in Ulster.
