This is a list of publishers in Syria .
The most important place of publication is the Syrian capital Damascus . In 2006 the Syrian General Organization of Books (arab. الهيئة العامة السورية للكتاب) was founded, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Culture . The following overview does not claim to be up-to-date or complete. The focus of the following list includes topics from the Arab world and Islam , but also others. Founded in Damascus 1969 Arab Writers' Association (Arabic اتحاد الكتاب العرب;. English Arab Writers Union, abbr AWU..) Has to stopover in Cairo now in Abu Dhabi , the capital of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) their Seat.
Beirut in Lebanon is an important neighboring publishing location .
