Alexander Sergejewitsch Misharin ( Russian Алекса́ндр Серге́евич Миша́рин ; born January 21, 1959 in Sverdlovsk, today Yekaterinburg ) is a Russian politician and engineer . He was governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast from November 23, 2009 to December 5, 2013, successor to Eduard Rossel . He is currently Vice-President of the Russian State Railways (RZD) as deputy to the Railway President Vladimir Ivanovich Yakunin.

biography

Alexander Sergejewitsch Mischarin grew up in a family of railway workers. In 1981 he received an engineering degree from the State Electromechanical Institute of Engineers in Rail Transport in Yekaterinburg . He then worked for the state railway company Sverdlovsk until 1989. From 1989 to 1991 Misharin worked on the construction of the Yekaterinburg Metro . In this project he was responsible for the energy supply. After the project was completed with the commissioning of the metro in April 1991, Alexander Misharin returned to the state railway company Sverdlovsk, where he became deputy head of the energy supply department. In 1996 he was promoted to chief engineer of the railway company.

In 1998 he switched to politics and became Deputy Minister of Railways of the Russian Federation. From February to May 2002 he took over provisional management of the Russian Ministry of Railways after the previous minister Nikolai Aksjonenko had left office. In May 2002 he became chairman of the Sverdlovsk Railway Company. In the same year he began his local political engagement in the Sverdlovsk Oblast . In the elections to the local parliament of Sverdlovsk Oblast in March 2004, he was on the list at number 3 of the United Russia party . From June 2004 to March 2009, Misharin was Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation. In March 2009 he was appointed Director of the Industry and Infrastructure Department of the Government of the Russian Federation . In August 2009 he was put up by his party United Russia as the top candidate for governor of the Sverdlovsk Oblast. On November 10, 2009 he was nominated by President Dmitry Medvedev as the new governor of the oblast and confirmed by the local parliament on November 17. The inauguration took place on November 23, 2009.

Alexander Misharin is a member of the Supreme Council of the Kremlin Party, United Russia .
