Alexander Stock (born June 3, 1962 in Cologne ) is a German television journalist and editor. Since October 2002 he has been head of the main communication department at ZDF .

Career

Alexander Stock studied political science, history and sociology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz from 1983 to 1989 . He had been working as a news editor for the show today since 1986 . In 1990 he briefly became a planning editor at the inland desk there, before the deputy editor-in-chief of ZDF, Peter Voss , appointed him as his personal advisor the following year.

In 1993, Stock went to heute-journal as a reporter and rose there in early 1995 to become co-moderator and boss on duty. In April 1997 he became deputy head of the new hello Germany editorial team . There he was significantly involved in the development of this magazine, which first went on air in June 1997. From 1998 Stock headed the ZDF planning department.

In August 2002, the new director Markus Schächter appointed him head of the communications department with effect from October 1 of the same year, whereby Schächter praised him as a "factually oriented and decisive communicator with high qualifications, great commitment and extraordinary expertise". In his role, Stock is responsible for corporate communications, audience service and the press office.

In addition to his main role at ZDF, he is a member of various committees and associations. For example, he is chairman of the supervisory board of the ZDF media projects development company and chairman of the television advisory board of the Deutsche Kinemathek , where he is also a deputy member of the board of trustees.
