In addition to this accentuation, the two unequal components, which are at an obtuse angle to each other, are linked by a clever overlap in the roofs. The architect Ludwig Hofmann limited himself to a few very deliberately used design elements, such as the slight overhang of the two-story main wing, the use of different dormer formats and the natural stone frame of the portal rising from the base. Monument for historical and urban planning reasons. 1914 133275

Overall system Herborn, entire complex Medieval urban area with city expansion Am Untertor and Bahnhofstrasse
location
The city area located within the city wall was designated as a uniform overall complex due to its historical significance. This was necessary because not only the medieval and early modern floor plan of the city, but also valuable historical building fabric has been preserved: in addition to the prominent buildings such as castle, church (see above), the large number of half-timbered bourgeois buildings from the 16th to 18th Century can be expected, but also those buildings that were built in the first half of the 19th century or at the turn of the last century and document the recent history of the city. The demarcation of the entire complex follows the city wall, where it has not been preserved, its former course. The entire complex includes the old cemetery east of the city between the city wall and Dill, as well as the city extensions at Untertor (first half of the 19th century) and Bahnhofstrasse (after 1900), which have their own historical and artistic value as stages in the city's development. They are spatially closely interlinked with the older urban area. Buildings within the overall complex are as follows: Am Dill Tower Total Am Weißen Roß Total Augustastraße 20 Bahnhofsplatz 2 or no. The church is raised in the west of the city. The fortified royal court of the eighth and ninth centuries is believed to have taken its place. The church was first mentioned in 1219, and in 1231 it was donated to the Teutonic Order. Only remains of the Romanesque building remain in the hull of the west tower and the two choir towers, which today encircle the wider Gothic choir and end under the roof. The choir, built in the first half of the 14th century, was originally flat-roofed and, at the end of the 15th century, was given a rich star vault, which is decorated with painted tendrils. The wall paintings in the choir also contain scenes from the life of Christ from the time the choir was built and two pairs of apostles from around 1500. Today's ship is a new building from 1598–1609 by Konrad Rosbach. The room has an almost square shape. The flat ceiling rests on two longitudinal beams supported by two round, stone pairs of pillars. The galleries in the nave, also built around 1600, are two-story, the one in the choir is single-story. The Romanesque west tower collapsed in 1787, the reconstruction was completed in 1822 by Friedrich Ludwig Schrumpf. The flat tent roof with a tall lantern comes from this time. 1219 133012
