Breitscheid Church
Entire churchyard complex Breitscheid, Kirchstrasse
location
The churchyard is on a hill on the western edge of the village. The Protestant church is a medieval choir tower, the nave of which was expanded in the 1960s. The walling of the churchyard, which was used as a cemetery, is kept closed. Kirchstrasse leads to the entrance portal, which is framed by half-timbered buildings from the 18th and early 19th centuries. Together with the churchyard, these buildings form a small overall complex that demonstrates the close historical connection between churchyard and village. It is known from the 16th century that their churchyard was surrounded by barns, on which an interest payment was made towards the church.
