About this picture

Einhaus is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein . It is located on the west bank of the Ratzeburg Lake in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park .

history

Einhaus was first mentioned in a document in 1194 in the Isfried partition contract as "Ad unam domum" (a single house). In 1450 it was called “tom Enenhuse”. Presumably this "ene Hus" was a customs house. In 1791 Einhaus had 97 residents at nine fireplaces. Among the residents were a farmer's bailiff, five Hufner, a Brinkitzer, a toll collector and a shepherd.

Since 1741, the Ratzeburg Office levied a toll for the use of the Via Regia and the Heer and Landstrasse between Mölln and Lübeck, which was used to build stone dams (so-called country roads). Vehicles and pack animals were subject to road tolls, but pedestrians were not.

The Grönauer Steindamm was the first to begin in 1735/36, which is why the road money was called "Grönauer Wegegeld".

The former “Zum Zoll” inn from 1744 still bears witness to its time as a customs post. Opposite was a small house that must have been used to supervise the roads. This is indicated by the designation "Wärterbudenplatz". The house fell victim to the railway construction in 1851. The cancellation of the "Wegegeld-Receptur" in Einhaus took place on December 31, 1852.

coat of arms

Blazon : "In green with a shelf made of silver and black twelve times, a silver stele that ends at the top in a wheel cross with bars protruding above and to the sides."

Ansverus Cross at Einhaus

The Ansverus cross in the coat of arms goes back to a memorial stone that commemorates the martyrdom of the abbot Ansverus from the monastery of St. George on the mountain in 1066. The fragmented shield border comes from the coat of arms of the Duchy of Lauenburg.
