About this picture

Grinau is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein, south of Lübeck . The community has no other districts.

history

In 1163, under Henry the Lion , the name of the stream "agues Grinave" appears for the first time, which gave the place its name. Before 1227 (Battle of Bornhöved) Slavs-Obotrites had populated the local area, and a "Grin" (Grin-au) ruled the area south of the Trave .

Grinau was initially a village, then became a noble estate without a manor house and was under changing rule until 1873.

The coupling of the 18th century brought the eight hooves to ten paddocks as well as a clear border between the Duchy of Lauenburg and Holstein. Only after the abolition of serfdom in 1873 was Grinau able to regain its freedom and has since been a village again.

politics

Community representation

Since the municipal elections in 2013, the AFWG voter community has all nine seats in the municipal council.
