The place is about 10 km north of Schwarzenbek .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1278. Since 1962 the community has belonged to the Schwarzenbek-Land office .

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the ABW community of voters has five seats since the 2008 local elections and the FWB four.

Attractions

The Basthorst estate forms the center of the village . The farm and the lands have been cultivated since the 14th century. Today, regular markets are held on the estate, and various craft workshops and restaurants are housed in the buildings of the farmyard.

Basthorst village church

The Protestant church in the center of the village is surrounded by the village cemetery. It dates from the 19th century. The building, made of hewn field stone, is decorated in the neo-Gothic style , relics of a previous building have been preserved in the furnishings .
