Talkau is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein . She belongs to the Breitenfelde office .

history

The village, a Slavic foundation, was first mentioned in a document in the Ratzeburg tithe register from 1230. In 1241, Duke Albert from Lauenburg gave the village to Reinbek Monastery , which owned it until the Reformation. In 1855 the chapel dedicated to Maria Magdalena was laid out on the village square. Talkau has belonged to the Wotersen office since 1889, Talkau has belonged to the Breitenfelde office since 1948. In 1920 a volunteer fire brigade was established. Shortly after the war, the population rose from 160 to 372 inhabitants. In 1956 Talkau won the state competition "Most Beautiful Village". In addition to several farms and several shops, there was a village school in Talkau, which was closed in 1968.

The largest operation in Talkau was a sawmill with a carpentry and construction business. This factory was destroyed by fire in 1968.

There are around a dozen clubs in Talkau. The oldest is the Talkau hunting association, which has existed since around 1900

Talkau has so far not published a village chronicle.

Buildings

In the middle of the village there was a chapel consecrated to Maria Magdalena from 1855, which was built from rocks and had a slate roof. It had to be demolished in 1958.
