About this picture

Stubben is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein .

history

Stubben was first mentioned in 1408, when G. von Wedege and V. von Zulen sold the place to Duke Erich the Elder. At that time the village was still called "tho den stubben".

The origin of the name Stubben is unknown. It is believed that the place was created on a forest floor that was cleared by fire, on which the tree stumps (= stumps) remained.

politics

Community representation

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the NWS community of voters has five seats since the 2013 local elections and the AFWS four seats.

coat of arms

Blazon : “Divided by green and gold by a gold-blue wave bar. Above three fan-shaped silver ears of wheat, below a green tree stump. "

Economy and Infrastructure

Stubben is a rural community with farms, craft businesses, but also purely residential areas.

Since Stubben no longer has its own school and no kindergarten in town, the children of kindergarten age, preschool age and elementary school age are driven to Mollhagen . All other schools are in Bargteheide .

There are no more shops in Stubben and so the food has to be bought outside. The last grocery store closed in 1984. The last restaurant closed on December 28, 2015.

Attractions

The old school from 1912 with its three round gables is architecturally unique in Schleswig-Holstein. Today the volunteer fire brigade is housed in this building and the former school room is used as an event room by local clubs and organizations.
