Raymond Voss (born July 11, 1952 ) is a German musician .

Life

Voss, whose father was a seaman , did an apprenticeship as a quartermaster in the port of Hamburg and worked in this profession for three years.

Together with Klaus Büchner , Voss was temporarily employed at the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater , where he was responsible for the incidental music. In 1975 the two founded the band Basia , and a year later the group Torfrock . Then he worked in the bands parents are liable for their children , Hammerburg , Hoellenhunde and Melfis . The hallmarks of Raymond Voss are his rough voice and the long goatee, reminiscent of his role models ZZ Top . According to his own statement, Voss is “musically incredibly attached to the southern rock of the United States”. For him, music has to "swing", Voss once said. He is responsible for the music and lyrics of the Torfrock (and some Klaus and Klaus ) songs and plays guitar and electric guitar , electric bass , banjo or keyboard .

Voss' voice can be heard in the peat rock songs "Volle Granate Renate", "Beinhart", "Trunkenbold" and "Heben". Voss once compared the intergenerational success of Torfrock with the Asterix magazines: “Today a seven-year-old throws himself away because of the stories. It's similar with our music. It is the power of the language of the songs. Today we get a lot of mail from young people who got Torfrock through their parents' tapes, ”he told the Celleschen Zeitung in December 2012 .

He also sings in the song "Orient Express" by Westernhagen guitarist Jay Stapley. Raymond Voss also acted as a voice actor in the Werner films. There he lends the voice of the “President” of the MC folding chair motorcycle club and a bricklayer. Torfrock also contributed some songs to the soundtrack. Raymond Voss also produces some solo pieces under his own name as well as songs for his band "Eltern Haften Für Ihr Kinder". Due to problems at the heart, Voss had to do without appearances with Torfrock, including the Bagaluten Wiehnacht, from 2018 .

Raymond Voss lives in Stubben (Lauenburg) in Schleswig-Holstein .
