About this picture

Horst is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein . Neuhorst and Althorst are in the municipality.

history

The Slavic Oldenburger Wall is located between Horst and Lehmrade . Individual excavation finds from this ring wall were dated to the 7th century.

The village was mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register in 1128 for the first time with the Slavic name "Colatza". The manor village was part of the Principality of Ratzeburg-Mecklenburg-Strelitz and, like the town of Panten, remained a Mecklenburg exclave until the 20th century. Through the Greater Hamburg Act, Alt Horst came to Schleswig-Holstein with part of the state of Ratzeburg in 1937. From 1948 to 1970 the community belonged to the office Sterley, which in 1971 was combined with the office Sterley to the office Gudow-Sterley . Since the dissolution of the Amt Gudow-Sterley at the end of 2006, the municipality has been administered by the Amt Lauenburgische Seen .

There are several parts of the village. The part of Alt-Horst includes the estate with old and new houses as well as the soccer field. Then there is Neu-Horst, which consists of three parts. A former Vorwerk to the estate with residential houses, the part "Neu Horst am Wall" with mostly active and former farms and "Neu Horst am Käsel" with active and former farms and houses. Neu-Horst am Wall (near the Oldenburger Wall) and Neu-Horst am Käsel (a small hill) were built from around 1950 for refugee families from agriculture.

politics

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the CDU has five seats since the 2013 local elections and four for an electoral community.
