About this picture

Roseburg is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein . Neu-Güster and Wotersen are in the municipality.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in the Ratzeburg tithe register from 1230. Roseburg belonged to the noble estate Wotersen . With the dissolution of the estate districts at the end of the 1920s, the estate with the well-known manor house belongs to the municipality of Roseburg.

coat of arms

Blazon : "Above a red pewter shield foot in silver, a red triple thread, each covered with a silver tile on the left and right, covered by a five-petalled, black-veined golden rose with a red lug and five green sepals."

Attractions

The list of cultural monuments in Roseburg includes the cultural monuments entered in the list of monuments of Schleswig-Holstein.

Buildings

The stately three-winged mansion of Gut Wotersen was built for von Bernstorff from 1721 to 1737 . The builder was Paul Heumann. The eleven-axis main building is three-story towards the courtyard and two-story towards the garden. The estate remained in the possession of the von Bernstorff family until 1996.

Not only the manor house, but the entire estate complex is very impressive. It is quite unusual that some farm buildings were built from rocks. The estate became known nationwide through the ZDF series “ The Legacy of the Guldenburgs ”.

Personalities

The writer Peter Rühmkorf (1929–2008) died in Roseburg.
