About this picture

Fredeburg is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein . It is the smallest municipality in the district in terms of inhabitants and consists of 14 houses, mainly forest workers 'farms and a few resettlers' farms .

geography

Pinnsee

Fredeburg is located between Ratzeburg and Mölln on the Old Salt Road ( Bundesstraße 207 ) from Lüneburg to Lübeck in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park and, in addition to a wild boar gate , also has a bison enclosure on the historic route of the Old Salt Road, which from there goes south through the Farchau district forest Mölln leads to.

Most of the municipality consists of forest. The municipality boundary to Mölln runs through the only body of water in Fredeburg, the Pinnsee .

history

The keep built on the site of the “Christopherskrug” rest stop was first named “Vredeborch” in 1408. He was already part of the Lübeck Landwehr . The fortification fell into disrepair from 1683.

religion

29% of the residents are Catholic, 21% Protestant (as of 2011). The parish of St. Answer (Ratzeburg) , which belongs to the Archdiocese of Hamburg, is responsible for the Catholics . The Lutherans are assigned to the parish of St. Georgsberg in Ratzeburg, which belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

politics

Since the community has fewer than 70 inhabitants, it has a community assembly instead of a community council; this includes all citizens of the community.
