About this picture

Ziethen is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein, east of Hamburg . It is in the immediate vicinity of the district town of Ratzeburg . Sande and Wietingsbek are in the municipality.

history

Ziethen was first mentioned in a document as Cithene in the Isfried partition contract of 1194. In it, the entire village is transferred to the chapter of the Ratzeburg Cathedral . Therefore, the village then belonged to the Ratzeburg bishopric and the resulting principality of Ratzeburg , later Mecklenburg-Strelitz . It was not until the Barber-Lyaschtschenko Agreement that the former Mecklenburg community was assigned to the British occupation zone and thus to the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The parish of Ziethen, on the other hand, remained part of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Mecklenburg until 1998, but was administered by the Schleswig-Holstein Regional Church and then by the North Elbian Church since 1954 .
