About this picture

Siebenbäum is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein . Kastorf station is in the municipality.

history

Siebenbäume was first mentioned in 1286 and belonged to the Vogtei Mölln of the dukes of Saxony-Lauenburg, and the later office of Steinhorst. A part of the place belonged to Lübeck from 1401 to 1747 .

The village church on an oval hill in the center of the village has been known as the Marienkirche since 1304. The second verifiable church building was rebuilt from 1640–1646. It was a half-timbered building that was laid down in 1864. Thereby charred remains of a previous building came to light, but this cannot affect the church building directly before 1640, because this church was not burned down, so it indicates a fourth church building. In 1741/1742 the tower was renewed by the Hanoverian court architect Jakob Heumann. Today's St. Mary's Church was built between 1864/1865 in the style of Tudor Gothic built and is probably the fourth in the same place.
