Anykščiai railway station
The Anykščiai Station ( lithuanian Anykščių geležinkelio stotis ) is a railway station in the town of Anykščiai in Lithuania .
It is located in the northern part of the narrow gauge railway -distance Rubikiai -Anykščiai- Panevėžys . The route is operated by the Aukštaitijos siaurasis gelezinkelis museum railway . Train operations are carried out on selected days.
As a building of technology, architecture and culture, it was declared a monument. There is a railway museum opposite the main building .
history
The station was built in 1901. In June 1941 and from 1948 to 1951, mass deportations to Siberia were carried out from this station. Quartz sand was then transported . No more goods have been transported since 1999. It has been protected as a cultural monument since 1996.
