Gellenbachmühle | Bischoffen, outside the Gellenbachmühle location, corridor: 6 and 15, parcel: 62 and 1 |
The Gellenbachmühle is not far from the confluence of the Gellenbach in the Aar, from which the Mühl originally branched off. The district boundaries that still cut through the property today are based on old boundary lines, u. a. between Prussia, Nassau and Hesse, from which the nickname "Dreiländermühle" results. Mentioned as early as 1356, the current substance of the two-sided courtyard goes back to more recent times. The mill building, unusual for the area, is made of massive rubble stone. The iron mill wheel on the eaves side is still there in remnants. The barn from 1695, which burned down in 1989, was reconstructed according to the old model.

The core building with man figures on the upper floor dates back to the 18th century, while the western building zone with carved corner posts and fire brackets was added around 1800. The ground floor was probably completely renovated in brick as early as the 19th century. Am Damm total; Am Mühlbach 1; Bahnhofstraße 2-14 (even), 1-17 (odd); In the courtyard as a whole; Sandbergstraße 2, 8-28 (even), 1-11 (odd); Wallenfelsstraße 2-6 (even ), 1-11 (odd) The old town center, including the church, is located in the flat valley of the Siegbach, which, with its open course and numerous walkways, is a defining element of the overall complex. A square-like entrance situation arises at the stone bridge, where the old village mill (Wallenfelsstrasse 2) has a defining function. The northern boundary is formed by the houses on Sandbergstrasse, where numerous buildings were built in the 19th and early 20th centuries (Scheune No. 7: 1887). In the lower area of Bahnhofstrasse, the sequence of buildings standing on the eaves is striking. The former brewery at no. 10 is worth mentioning here. The street Am Damm initially runs parallel to the brook, but then branches around the church, which was originally built even more closely, into smaller branch and connecting paths. The almost closed area in the courtyard, which is probably one of the oldest settlement areas in the village, is unusual. |

town hall | Bischoffen, Günteroder Straße 10 Location corridor: 1, parcel: 99/1 |
Instead of the old school barn, the council and syringe house was built before 1954, presumably according to plans by the district architect Ruppersberger. Functional structure of the small, two-storey building through large fire brigade gates on the ground floor and therefore non-corresponding windows on the upper floor; Gable roof with bell tower. Not only as a representative of a clear, simple architectural direction, but also because of beautiful details (wooden gates, lettering), the building stands out compared to town halls in the neighboring towns (Wilsbach).

Winkelhof | Bischoffen, Günteroder Straße 13 Location corridor: 2, parcel: 57, 58 |
According to the inscription on the barn, the Winkelhof on the former southern edge of the village was built in 1821 by Johannes Baugs and his wife Helena by Nicklas Rubb from Oberweidbach. The half-timbered structure of the residential building shows a close-knit structure in which the group of three stands on the gable side. (See Oberweidbach, Marburger Strasse 13). As a typical homestead on the main thoroughfare, it is important despite the massively renovated ground floor.

barn | Bischoffen, in the courtyard one location Village: 1, plot: 168/3 |
According to the inscription, the mighty barn was built in 1794 by Johann Georg Hauch and his wife Maria Catharina by the foreman Johann Jacob Diebel from Eisemroth. The conventional post construction with a middle threshing floor is enhanced by an unusually rich ornamental framework, which gives a dwelling-like impression, especially on the front facing the stream: three-zone structure with man figures or struts, a storey profile running over the posts and fire rams in the parapet fields. The presumably older residential building may hide a considerable structure despite the disturbances on the ground floor.

It shows a resting hiker against the background of a stream valley with a mill and the quote from the folk song "In a cool ground ...". The subject of the picture, the painting style and the motto thematize the romanticism of the mill in a way that is typical of the time and was shaped by the homeland security movement.

Bakery and mayor's office | Niederweidbach, Gartenstraße 1 Location floor: 11, parcel: 50 |
The small building connects the back house on the ground floor and community rooms on the upper floor in a characteristic way. The public function is made clear by the dominant location at a street crossing and a representative design: axial entrance on the gable side with carved pilasters, rich ornamental forms on the half-timbered figures, crooked hip roof. Due to the carvings typical of the region, the building can be dated to around 1800. The baking chamber inside with a wooden central column.

Overall system | Niederweidbach, complete system in the center of Niederweidbach location |
Gartenstrasse 2, 1-5 (odd); Hauptstrasse 8-34 (even), 15-37 (odd); Kirchstrasse 2-6 (even), 1-5 (odd); Mittelstrasse 2-14 (even), 1- 9 (odd); Schulstrasse 2-10 (even), 1-9 (odd) The entire complex essentially comprises the old town center of Niederweidbach. Characteristic is the settlement on a western slope with the high-lying church enthroned above the place, whose defensive tower and the original walling were also important as protection of the Cologne-Leipziger Messestrasse. The streets partly follow the slope or form the entrance to the church, which has a high impact on the townscape. Another urban development accent is in the area around the town hall and bakery at one of the town's most important intersections. The farmstead Roßbacher Strasse 1, dating from around 1800, forms the southern end of the entire complex. Except in the area between Hauptstrasse 8 and 12, no noteworthy remains of a house garden zone have survived. The predominantly rural development of the place is evidence of a bloom of half-timbered architecture around 1800, which is characterized by a rich structure with flat carvings and house inscriptions. This typical hinterland half-timbering can also be found in the neighboring towns, but not in this quantity and quality. Particularly noteworthy: Hauptstrasse 19. In some cases the barns of the courtyards have been preserved better and more original than their houses, such as B. at Hauptstrasse 12 and 31, each still with the remains of a straw and clay curtain, or at Kirchstrasse 3 with frameless framework. Despite numerous demolitions and new buildings, the density and quality of the remaining building fabric make special protection seem sensible. |

The inscription on the residential building of the Winkelhof indicates the builders Johann Georg Schreiner and his wife Elisabeth, the foreman Johannes Koob and the construction date 1824. Despite the massively renewed ground floor, the building is significant due to the unusually rich half-timbering with decorative shapes and flat carvings as an example of craftsmanship around 1800 in the Hessian hinterland.

The eaves-standing barn on the street was probably built at the same time as the residential building and is characterized by the profile of the storey and ornate corner pieces of wood. Homestead | Niederweidbach, Kirchstrasse 5, Kirchstrasse 12 Location floor: 11, parcel: 83/1 |
In the immediate vicinity of the church, a homestead developed from a Streckhof. The barn has an inscription dated 1801 and uses decorative forms and flat carvings that are typical of the area; the plastered or clad house probably older. The smaller farm buildings and a moving house form an open courtyard and a gate-like passage for Kirchstrasse. Due to this peculiar situation and the large number of outbuildings, homestead is worth preserving, which was obviously built on the west side of the old churchyard wall.

Evangelical parish church, former pilgrimage church of St. Maria | Niederweidbach, Kirchstraße o. No. Location floor: 11, parcel: 82/1 |
The building, located high above the Aartal on the north side of the village, is one of the most impressive fortified country churches in the district, originally with a walled area that was made accessible through excavations, today with beautiful old trees in the surrounding open space. The mighty square choir tower, which probably dates from the 14th century, is adjoined by the two-aisled nave, which is rather unusual for the area and which is dated 1498 by the year on the southeast portal. The tower has a groin vault on the ground floor and was given a new pointed spire with an exterior walkway in the 19th century. The trumpets on the upper floor indicate a previously existing or planned battlement. The groin vaults of the two-aisled church interior rest on a round and an octagonal support and lead elegantly with a three-beam to the triumphal arch; beautiful, e.g. Some figurative keystones and consoles. The historicist room setting around 1900, restored a few years ago, with rich tendril paintings and a pretty tiled floor is a defining feature of the space. In the west a stair spindle leads into the attic, where the gable is equipped with keyhole and rectangular notches. Late Gothic roof structure with three central columns and three collar beam layers. The elevated location in view of Hohensolms and the defensive nature of the church indicate a protective function for the younger Leipzig-Cologne Messestraße ( Brabanter Straße ) running through the place . The building was also the pilgrimage church of Mary. Unusually rich and valuable furnishings: St. Mary's altar with carved central shrine and painted wings (Hans Döring) around 1520, integrated into the organ prospectus from 1954 with an older organ. Gothic font. Late Gothic tabernacle in the choir. Pulpit from 1568, galleries 1608 with paintings from the 17th century. Bell by Laux (Lukas) Rucker, 1598.

Half-timbered house | Niederweidbach, Mittelstraße 1 Location hall: 11, parcel: 115/3 |
The half-timbered house was built by Jacob Schneider in 1827 by Jacob Kloos and his wife Catarina. The numerous religious and reflective inscriptions and the storey profiles show that, despite the constructive structure, it is a visible framework; however, it follows a stricter conception of architecture than z. E.g. the slightly older house at Hauptstrasse 28 from 1824. In the townscape, the gable front with the crooked hip roof represents the optical response to the neighboring council and bakery.

Half-timbered house with barn | Niederweidbach, Mittelstraße 8 Location floor: 11, parcel: 132 |
The oldest part of the parallel yard is the mighty barn, dated 1610. Despite some disturbances, it has an impressive, grid-shaped framework with a few corner struts. The tooth-cut frieze on the gate beam and the "Eye of God" in the gable triangle are to be emphasized as decorative forms. The partly plastered half-timbered house can be dated shortly after 1800 thanks to the carved corner posts with balusters and flower tendrils. As a grown unit, the unusually old barn and the rather sophisticated house are of local historical importance.

Rectory | Niederweidbach, Mittelstraße 9 Location floor: 11, parcel: 144/2 |
In 1829 the carpenters Adam Weigel from Oberhörlen and Johann Jost Lenz from Offenbach built the new rectory. In contrast to slightly older, traditional buildings (Hauptstrasse 28, Mittelstrasse 1), the double-locked, structural framework, the flat roof pitch over the knee and the regular row of windows are elements of a "modern", rationalistic architectural trend. The rear parish barn with a crooked hip roof was built in 1764 under the carpenter Johann Georg Neuhauß from Bischoffen; Remnants of scratch plaster and clay brick infill. Next to Altenkirchen one of the few examples of an almost complete rectory.

barn | Niederweidbach, Mittelstraße 14 Location floor: 11, parcel: 150/3 |
According to the inscription, the barn was built in 1800 by Johannes Walbrech and his wife Anna Barbara by Johann Peter Emrich. Except for a brick-lined stable in 1898, the building has largely been preserved. Courtyard | Niederweidbach, Schulstraße 4, hallway: 11, parcel: 503/98 |
The brewery, which dates back to the middle of the 18th century (1744), is one of the oldest parts of the courtyard, which has been converted on three sides. In the lower area, made of regular stone layers, it has a vaulted cellar and the remains of a fireplace. The barn facing Schulstrasse with a firebock above the gate is likely to have been built around 1800, the eaves stable in the 19th century. As the youngest component, the residential building was built shortly after 1900 with historicizing, decorative half-timbering and a crooked hip roof. In addition to a long structural development history, the complex shows the function of the brewery, which can only be verified very rarely.

Overall system | Oberweidbach, complete system, town center Oberweidbach location |
The backbone of the small village center is Marburger Straße, from which numerous alleys and side streets branch off. The rural properties are arranged randomly along this axis, but a noticeable number of houses close the courtyards off the eaves, while the barns are at the gable end of the street. Among these is the one at Untergasse 3 from 1868 in historicizing style. Some barns have dovecotes, e.g. B. at Marburger Straße 8. On the southern border of the town, a small village center has been created with the church, the community center (instead of the old bakery) and the spray house, while the school from 1848 is located at Obergasse 2 at the opposite end of the town. In addition to the remains of the house garden zone between Marburger Strasse and Weihergarten, the linden tree in front of the village community center is worth mentioning. It was planted in 1897 for the 100th birthday of Kaiser Wilhelm I and, like the linden tree at the junction of Rodenhäuser Weg, determines the appearance of the town.

Village community center | Oberweidbach, Marburger Straße 1 Location hallway: 1, parcel: 32/2 |
The village community center, dated 1956, was built as part of a Hessian state program initiated in 1952. Similar to Weinbach-Blessenbach (Limburg-Weilburg district), the typical building is structured asymmetrically by the segmental arched entrance and the large hall windows. The mosaic on the gable side symbolizes rural growth. Village communal facilities such as a freezer and a bakery are housed in the rear annexes. In this context, the neighboring syringe house should also be mentioned.

Half-timbered house | Oberweidbach, Marburger Straße 13 Location floor: 1, parcel: 59 |
The mostly plastered half-timbered house shows a two-zone structure on the back and a subsequent extension to include a building axis. The carvings on man figures and filler wood suggest a remarkable structure, including on the front, and that it was made shortly after 1800.

barn | Oberweidbach, Weihergarten 4 Location hallway: 1, parcel: 31 |
The impressive barn next to the church is part of a courtyard, the rear house of which may still hide a considerable half-timbered structure under the cladding. In addition to the middle threshing floor, some areas have been massively renovated. The gable wall shows a conspicuous, double-locked structure, which emphasizes the central axis with strut figures and probably allows a date to the 17th century. In addition, the remains of the beautiful scratch plaster dated 1875 are worth mentioning.

Former bakery and parish hall | Roßbach, Ortsstraße 13 Location hallway: 1, parcel: 226 |
The bakery and parish hall is located in the center of the village. Its rather elaborate man figures and parapet struts indicate that it was built around 1700. The bakery on the ground floor with renewed ovens rests on a mighty wooden pillar, similar to Niederweidbach, while the community hall on the upper floor still has a cast-iron Schönstein oven.

Evangelical parish church | Wilsbach, Am Kirchplatz 3 Location corridor: 10, parcel: 539 |
On a hill above the old town center is the Protestant church, the oldest parts of which are inscribed on the south-east side and dated 1569. The small half-timbered building, on the upper floor with curved struts over a quarry stone base, was extended to the southwest in 1899 and in 1950 received a choir and bell tower with contemporary painting. Inside, the older part of the hall is covered flat over a longitudinal beam, the younger is barrel-vaulted. The three-sided gallery, which carries the organ on the narrow side, determines the space. The ornate columns date from 1621, the parapet probably from the 18th century. High-quality pulpit, made in 1681 under Pastor Caspar Eberhard Gerst, with rich inlays, carvings and striking struts on the pulpit; see. the pulpit in Erda. Gothic altar cross.
