The Zottelbach is a brook that runs about five kilometers northwest through the area of the municipality of Berg in the district of Hof in Bavaria and finally flows into the Saale from the left at the remote area of Unterkemlas in the neighboring municipality of Issigau (also called "Nissja" in the local dialect) .

geography

course

The Zottelbach begins its open course at about 595  m above sea level. NHN on the north-western edge of the eponymous village of the municipality of Berg near the sack end of the street Am Anger as a ditch between adjacent meadows to the west-northwest to the nearby district of Hadermannsgrün . After just two hundred meters, it begins its twisted run in this district, roughly on the route of Von-der-Grün-Straße and only steps outside again near the junction of Mühlenstraße next to a pond about 0.1 hectare in size.

From here it flows as a ditch in a flat meadow basin at a distance, first next to the green mill at the end of the village, then past the field mill in individual layers, both of which are on his left. He also passes the following wasteland of Holler on the right, the following Bartelsmühle on the left after crossing the road between the villages of Hadermannsgrün and Eisenbühl in the municipality of Berg; At the Bartelsmühle there is also a mill pond, to which a piece of canal leads.

Further down the valley, the district road HO 8 from Eisenbühl to the small town of Lichtenberg crosses Bach and Tal at the village's sewage treatment plant. From here on, the right valley slope is continuously forested, the left one on the piece up to the tributary of the Teufels-Bächlein from the south out of a small forest valley. Here, at a group of farms from Kemlas on the left slope of the county road, the municipality border with Issigau comes close to the left bank and the stream turns abruptly to the north for about its last kilometer. It flows under the individual property Unterkemlas on the left slope, on which there are forest trees below, and then soon flows from the left and, last but not least, southeast again to the Issigau district at below 390  m above sea level. NHN into the Saale flowing here to the southwest .

Catchment area

The Zottelbach drains a little over 8 km² of the Vogtland in a north-westerly direction towards the Saale . Its catchment area has roughly the contour of a long rectangle, slightly tilted against the west-east direction, with an approximate length of around 4 km and an approximate width of around 2 km. Its northwest corner is at the mouth at about 390  m above sea level. NHN , from here the northern watershed runs approximately east-southeast over the Gupfen ( 612  m above sea level ) near Eisenbühl to the northeast corner on the Rauhen Bühl near Schnarchenreuth ( 621  m above sea level ); beyond the line there are only small tributaries to the upstream Saale. On the Rauhen Bühl the border of the Zottelbach catchment area bends to the south and separates with little ups and downs from that of the Weißenbach to the Saale in the east. The southeast corner is then on the eastern edge of Berg (a little over 640  m above sea level ). Right at the beginning of the now following southern watershed is on a 644  m above sea level. NHN high summit with radio tower reaches the greatest height in the catchment area at all, the terrain under the sheath then falls with fluctuations in the west-north-west direction to the south-west corner at the Hollerhöhe single house in Issigau; the competitor in the south is the Issigbach on this section . The watershed then runs northwards through Kemlas and on the ridge of the downward mouth spur back to the mouth; apart from the small Kemlasbach at the beginning, the Saale itself is an otherworldly competitor here.
