Guntersdorf is a district of Herborn in the Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse .
Geographical location
Guntersdorf is located southwest of the city center. In the north the federal highway 255 leads past the place.
history
Guntersdorf was already settled in the early Middle Ages . The first documentary mention comes from 1337.
As early as the end of the Middle Ages, the place had a Jacob's chapel . The current half-timbered chapel was built in 1685. There are two neighboring historic mill properties in the village .
In the Middle Ages, historical Roman finds were found in Guntersdorf , which are now privately owned. Guntersdorf was also not spared from the Second World War , as a Royal Air Force plane crashed during the war days .
Territorial reform
As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Guntersdorf was incorporated into the city of Herborn on October 1, 1971 on a voluntary basis . For the district of Guntersdorf, as for the other incorporated, formerly independent municipalities, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.

A town partnership has existed between Guntersdorf (Herborn) and Guntersdorf in Lower Austria since 1970, which is maintained through annual visits to both villages.
