Hirschberg is a district of Herborn in the Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse .
Geographical location
Hirschberg is located south of the center of Herborn. It is the highest district.
history
The place name is derived from the Hirschberg forest in which the place is located. A stone church for the village is already recorded in the Middle Ages . Hirschberg is first mentioned in connection with the chaplain at this chapel in 1351.
Up to 1641 there was a domain property in the place, which as a large agricultural enterprise occupied 46% of the usable area. Then it was combined to form a Nassau-Dillenburg estate.
Territorial reform
In the course of administrative reform in Hesse on 1 January 1977, the previously independent municipality Hirschberg were, the city Herborn and other previously independent municipalities by the law on the restructuring of Dill circle counties Giessen and Wetzlar and the city of casting the new city Herborn together . For the district of Hirschberg, as for the other incorporated, formerly independent municipalities, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.

There is a local advisory council with a local mayor for Hirschberg . The local advisory board consists of five members. After the local elections in Hesse in 2016 , Matthias Schönling is the mayor.

- The former school is now as participatory used.
- Since October 2009 there has been an approx. 40 hectare alternative burial site in the forest between the villages of Hirschberg, Merkenbach and Hörbach , a so-called Friedwald .
