Alexander Wassiljewitsch Topchijew

Alexander Vasilyevich Toptschijew ( Russian Александр Васильевич Топчиев * July 27 . Jul / 9. August  1907 greg. In Michailowka , Oblast Woiska Donskowo ; †  27. December 1962 in Moscow ) was a Soviet petrochemicals .

Life

In 1930 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology . Topchiev was elected to the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1949. From 1958 to 1962 he was Vice President of the Academy. His main work is in the field of petrochemistry, halogenation , alkylation and carbon chemistry .

The former petroleum institute of the USSR bears his name today. Topchiev was a fighter for peace and international cooperation.
